Why do Therapy?

Because this life is a blessing that can sometimes be hard to fully appreciate given all the challenges of modern society. Many people don’t know how much change is truly possible. What seems like personality or “who I am” often turns out to be trauma and history when we turn to the transformative power of working with the body.

Therapy can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic pain/illness, and more. Some people do therapy to pull themselves out of a difficult spot in life. Other people do it as part of an ongoing personal and/or spiritual growth process. Others might pursue therapy to become more loving partners, calmer parents, more engaged citizens, or more regulated activists.

How to Get Started

Please feel free to call or text me at 510-255-5910 for a free 20 minute consultation. I see adults and teens of all races, genders, and life experiences. My rates range from $75 to $175 for a 50 minute session.

Per U.S. law, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of services: https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises . This law was likely not designed with MFTs in mind so rest assured this will not be an “estimate” but rather a clear communication of the hourly rate you will pay.

About Me

My name is Ajay and this is my personal therapy practice Neck Down Therapy. I call it Neck Down Therapy because while I value the mind and the intellect I have found that healing happens more effectively when we incorporate our entire body (including our feelings, desires, and body sensations) into the process.

I believe in an integral approach to therapy that builds on the successes of conventional therapeutic methods and incorporates understanding of trauma, social justice theory, somatics, attachment, neuro-diversity and more. I work in a somatic, relational way to address issues ranging from trauma to anxiety to concerns about the world.

My approach is holistic and strengths-based. I work with you to find out what your goals are for therapy and work to meet them. I believe in the inherent health and wisdom of each person. I believe it is important to both address the root causes of issues and work on them long-term while also providing shorter-term strategies to cope.

I know how difficult it can be to feel at ease and grounded in our modern, capitalist society. I have been exploring the issues of suffering and well-being for over 19 years since I first began undergoing my own personal therapy and meditation practice. I come with an open, humble heart ready to help.
